Product video formats for ecommerce

Last updated:

The format should match the job the video needs to do. A product-page hero, a paid social hook, and a detail shot are not the same creative brief.

Product page and marketplace

Use a clean reveal or detail macro when the buyer needs to understand the object. Keep motion legible, preserve the label, and avoid unnecessary scene changes that distract from the product.

Paid social

Launch Ad and Studio Story can introduce a stronger visual beat. Start with the product, show one clear benefit or detail, and end on a recognisable packshot. Do not invent performance claims or pretend the output is human-shot footage.

Seasonal campaigns

Gift Edit and Before / After are useful for restaging existing assets. Keep the product itself unchanged and focus the transformation on the environment, props, and lighting.

Aspect ratio is part of the format

Vertical gives the product more height and suits Reels or Stories. Landscape leaves room for a product-page hero and surrounding type. Square is practical for feeds and marketplace cards. Decide the placement before generating.

Make the product the hero.
